I remember learning about activated charcoal while searching for natural teeth whitening recipes. Activated charcoal was an ingredient, and I couldn't believe something blackening would actually whiten and purify things! Such a miracle!

This water purifying stick is made from 100% Ubame Oak and has been revered in Japan for centuries as a natural air and water purifier. It draws impurities out of tap water while releasing beneficial minerals: calcium, magnesium and phosphate.

Binchotan Charcoal is regarded as the highest quality charcoal for water purification. They have been traditionally-made in Wakayama, Japan by artisans for over 300 years.

Enjoy pure tasting water with a biodegradable alternative to plastic filters. Once the stick has reached its capacity as a water purifier it can be used as an indoor air purifier, closet & fridge deodorizer, or compost for the garden.

-zero-waste

-sustainably harvested

-activated through extremely high burning temperatures

-rapid cooling process resulting in countless microscopic cavities that help adsorb heavy metals and impurities in water

-also mineralizes water by releasing calcium, magnesium and phosphate

DIRECTIONS: Lightly rinse and brush off any excess ash. Boil the charcoal for 10 minutes and allow to cool completely. Fill a container with water and place the cool charcoal inside. The charcoal will absorb the impurities in the water. For best results, let the charcoal work its magic for at least 2-3 hours before drinking or the longer the better. Leave the charcoal in the container and refill with water as necessary.

The charcoal continues to work for 2-3 weeks until it needs to be reactivated. To reactivate simply repeat the boiling for 10 minutes and letting cool then it is ready to go again (reboiling the stick helps keep the exterior pores open, allowing for continuous use as a filter).

Replace after 4 months or once the charcoal stops releasing air bubbles during the reboiling process.

Once the stick has reached its capacity as a water purifier, it can be used as an indoor air purifier, closet & fridge deodorizer, or compost for the garden.
